Kanye West chose the start of the VMAs to deliver one of his legendary speeches. The rapper took the stage just after Taylor Swift won the first award, for Best Female Video. He interrupted the teenage singer, grabbed the mic, and shouted in support of Beyoncé. "I'm sorry, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time," he stated as B stood shocked in the audience.

During the 2007 VMAs in Las Vegas, West went on another rant and lost control after his performance was moved to a hotel suite instead of the show's main stage. 'Ye's comments are often in defense of his own work. He famously grabbed the stage at the American Music Awards in 2004 and declared that he had been robbed of the Best New Artist nomination.

His criticism against Swift, on the other hand, was not well accepted. West remained briefly on stage after his remarks as the audience became quiet. After West departed the stage, audience members began to cheer in favor of Swift.

According to sources, as the cameras moved away from the scene, West flipped off the audience and returned to his seat. "You can't blame a man for speaking his mind," Wale told the audience. His statements were welcomed with applause, prompting Wale to say, "Kanye, I tried." Pink passed by the rapper during the following commercial break and looked to shake her head in disdain before being led away by security. West stayed calm in the middle of the chaos as he kissed his girlfriend Amber Rose.
