Cardi B Pleads Guilty To Charges From 2018 Strip Club Brawl In New York City

Cardi B pled guilty to charges of assault stemming from an altercation in a New York strip joint in 2018. The rapper was scheduled to stand trial this week, but he accepted a plea agreement that spared him prison time. As a consequence, she was charged with third-degree assault and second-degree reckless endangerment, and ten other counts were dropped.

She was sentenced to 15 days of community service and told to remain away from the ladies involved for three years, as well as pay their court expenses. "No one is above the law," Melinda Katz, the Queen's district attorney, said following the sentencing.

Prosecutors argued Cardi B threw things, such as wine bottles, at two waitress sisters while instructing her crew to harm them. The 29-year-old said that one of the women was having an affair with her husband, rapper Offset. The assault occurred at Angels Strip Club in Flushing, Queens.

The rapper was joined in court by two other accused, Jeffrey Bush and Tawana Jackson-Morel. Bush will be imprisoned for six months for his role in the assault.

“Part of growing up and maturing is being accountable for your actions,” she wrote in a statement. “As a mother, it’s a practice that I am trying to instill in my children, but the example starts with me. I’ve made some bad decisions in my past that I am not afraid to face and own up to. These moments don’t define me and they are not reflective of who I am now. I’m looking forward to moving past this situation with my family and friends and getting back to the things I love the most – the music and my fans.”

If she does not complete the volunteer work by January 2023, she will be sentenced to prison. "The idea is that she'll do something that plays to her strengths in terms of reaching people, particularly young people," said lawyer Jeff Kern. "Encouraging messages about education and remaining on course."
