GET TO KNOW AYO SK3TCH
AYO SK3TCH is a promising hip-hop artist from Boston who moved to Los Angeles in 2015 to pursue a career in music. AYO SK3TCH resided in a section 8 housing complex in a neighborhood named "The Village" located just outside Boston. At the age of 12, he as well as his family moved to Mattapan, a high-crime area of Boston.
Growing up in Mattapan was highly hazardous because of the extraordinarily high crime and murder rate, therefore AYO SK3TCH had to migrate appropriately in order to live in such conditions.
At the age of 15, AYO SK3TCH got shot right in front of his house by a gunman over an unidentified quarrel, and then one year later, at 16, he was stabbed by another person for three grams of marijuana. Becoming a victim of abuse and also being pushed into the streets inspired him to do all in his power to escape from that environment and focus only on music.
Despite the fact that He lived in Mattapan, He attended school in Brookline. It was truly a melting pot for the entire world. He said to WhatsOnRap During the interview: "Idk how it is now but when I was there it was pretty evened out racial. There were a ton of black people, white people, Hispanic, Asians, and middle eastern, everyone was there. Poor people, rich people, nerds, gangsters, literally everyone was in there. It kinda showed me how to deal with people of all backgrounds. Definitely, a useful skill to have.
I really don’t have too much of a personal life. When I’m home I just smoke trees, watch YouTube videos or freestyle over beats, or cook food. Sometimes I go out to parties or I might get booked for something but I don’t really be doing the most".
AYO SK3TCH has also been rapping for such a long time and he has stated: "I feel like I should’ve taken off already, but then I look back at all the mistakes I made and I’m just grateful to finally be in any sort of position in this game as of now. I’m going to just stay focused, and keep releasing the best music possible"

AYO SK3TCH chose to open up to us to discuss his career, goals, and many surprising facts about himself that we were unaware of.The full interview is provided in the following paragraph :
- How long has music been a part of your life?
I have been making music literally since I was a kid like 9 or 10 years old. I used to play piano, trumpet, and recorder, and I even taught myself how to DJ when I was like 11 years old.
- If it wasn’t for music, where would you be now?
Wasn’t for music I’d probably be caught up getting in trouble because growing up, the only thing we were taught was to either survive and hustle in the streets, go to school and get a minimum wage job, or try to go pro with sports. So for me at the time when I was growing up, I felt like music was my only outlet.
- In what way do you aim to make a difference?
I’m making a difference by showing people that you can become whoever you want to be if you just stay focused and don’t let people and things distract you and take you off course. Even if you start with nothing you can still accomplish your goals and get to your destination if you make the right moves.
- Who is your fashion icon, and why?
I don’t really have a fashion icon. I just wear whatever I think looks cool to me. I basically mix designer clothes, with streetwear, scene style, and skater all in one. Some of my favorite brands are bathing ape, vans, and balenciaga. Shout out to Roland and cookies for also sponsoring me and blessing me with all the free gear they hook me up with.
- What’s the most trouble you’ve ever gotten into?
When I was a teenager I got shot, stabbed and arrested growing up. I’m not gonna go into details on what happened, but just no it’s wasn’t a pretty site. God is great and I’m blessed to be here today.
- Where is your career heading?
My career is headed in a stable direction. I been releasing music and people have been growing on it and vibing with it. It seems like more people are starting to get used to me as an artist and I definitely appreciate all the new listeners and fans I gaining since I've been releasing all this content.
- How would you describe your style of music?
One of my friends calls me a Chameleon because I can blend into so many different styles. Whether it’s a boom bap lyrical rap song, a melodic new school vibe, hyper pop, acoustic, basically any style that’s high quality, I’m gonna challenge myself to perfect that style. I’m trying to gain a wide audience and in order to do that, it’s easier when you have a variety of styles to pick from rather than just one main go to flow.
- How do you put words on the paper?
I don’t always write my songs. It’s actually rare that I’ll write something. I started off freestyling before I really became a recording artist. A lot of the time I just end up in the studio on some last-minute moves and then I end up recording to beats by punching in and going off the vibe. Most of the time the songs come out fire and we end up releasing them.
- If you could perform anywhere in the world where would it be?
It might be cool to perfect on a yatch in Hawaii or the Bahamas or something like that. That sounds like it would be dope
- What makes you different from the other rappers in the industry?
I’m different because I’m not here to prove I’m the toughest, richest, that I get the most girls, I’m the freshest or Flyest, I’m just here to make the best music and whatever comes with that so be it. I’m here strictly for the music and the art. I feel like most artists are doing it for an image, I’m doing this because I genuine enjoy making music and I would like the world to see and hear my story, incase they can relate to it, and it might help them get through tough situations one day.
- Who are your biggest music influences?
A lot of artists have definitely influenced and inspired me to becoming who I am today. I got a long list of some of my favorite artists. Some of them are Big L, Wiz Khalifa, Speaker Knockerz, Green Day, Lil Uzi Vert, CalBoy, Red Hot Chillie Peppers, Nas, SoFaygo, Weezer, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Gold Finger, Rich The Kid, Eminem and Joey Badass.
- If you could collaborate with any artist who would it be and why?
Don’t steal my idea but I’d really wanna do a song with me featuring Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Wayne and Green Day. That would be unreal and we would go super 100x diamond if we did that.
- Do you have any kooky habits we should know about?
Once of my worst habits is really the amount of weed I smoke everyday. It’s pretty bad. I should probably cut down at some point. I’m smoking like a half ounce a day by myself. It’s starting to get out of hand.
- Who inspires you the most?
I’m inspired the most by God, my family, and great music, artists and business moves that I see people making. When I see someone accomplishing their goals it inspires me to do the same.
- How do you plan to break through, and where do you think the future of the music industry lies?
I plan to break through by staying consistent making the right investments and marketing and branding myself the right way. Along with networking and collaborating with the right people who are also either successful or heading in the right direction.
