Diddy Becomes a Billionaire, Replaces Kanye on List of 2022’s Wealthiest Hip-Hop Artists - WhatsOnRap

Diddy has replaced Kanye West on the list of 2022's wealthiest hip-hop artists.

Diddy has topped Kanye West as the richest hip-hop musician in 2022. According to a recent assessment by former Forbes editor Zack O'Malley, Jay-Z is still the richest hip-hop musician in North America, with a net worth of $1.5 billion.

Ye was in second position on the list of hip-hop greatest earners earlier this year, with $250 million in revenues projected for 2021, but when his contract with Adidas was terminated due to his anti-Semitic rants, he dropped to third place in terms of net worth. He was said to be worth $2 billion earlier this year. Diddy is now in the second position, having previously trailed behind Ye.

With a net worth of $1 billion, Diddy is a hip-third hop billionaire. His Cîroc deal with Diageo is claimed to account for the majority of his riches, although other properties such as Revolt and DeLeón Tequila have also contributed; he made $90 million last year.

Ye's net worth is currently believed to be approximately $500 million, with the loss of his Adidas contract being the most significant cause of his drop. Earlier this month, Diddy and Ye exchanged insults on Instagram over the "White Lives Matter" t-shirt dispute.

Ye is still fortunate since he keeps his 5% ownership in Kim Kardashian's SKIMS shapewear business, as well as the rights to his master recordings and music publishing. He also retains ownership of the Yeezy brand, despite the fact that Adidas retains "sole ownership of all design rights to existing items as well as past new colors under the agreement."

According to a Forbes article published earlier this month, Ye's net worth has decreased to $400 million since the Adidas partnership ended. When he returned to Instagram, he appeared to corroborate such rumors, saying he "lost 2 billion dollars in one day."
