In 2019, The famous Rapper Lil Peep's mother filed a wrongful death lawsuit against his management team. In 2017, he died of a drug overdose.

Liza Womack, Lil Peep's mother, secured a judgment in her wrongful death case versus his management company. Attorneys on both factions told a court that the issue had been resolved "in principle," according to several sources. The settlement terms were not disclosed.

Womack filed a lawsuit against First Access Entertainment in 2019 following the death of her son. Brian "Chase" Ortega, FAE and Lil Peep's former manager, was accused of wrongful death, negligence, and breach of contract.

Gustav Ahr, better known as Lil Peep, died of a drug overdose in 2017. FAE, tour manager Belinda Mercer, and others, according to Womack, encouraged and enabled his drug use. She accused the defendants of giving him medications and pressuring him to perform while he wasn't feeling well. January a statement published in 2019, FAE denied any misconduct.

“Lil Peep’s death from an accidental drug overdose was a terrible tragedy,” FAE said. “However, the claim that First Access Entertainment, any of its employees, or Chase Ortega, or anyone else under our auspices was somehow responsible for, complicit in, or contributed to his death is categorically untrue.”

Womack discussed the matter with Pitchfork in 2021. She clarified why she brought the lawsuit and what she hoped to achieve.

“If people are held accountable for their actions, I will feel that justice has been done,” she said. “You learn to live with the pain, and you’re a different person, because when your child dies, the person that you were dies, too. But I will be glad, and I hope to feel satisfaction.”
