Tory Lanez allegedly shot Megan Thee Stallion in the leg over two years ago. The trial has finally begun in Los Angeles.
The very first order of business will be opening comments, which will begin today (December 12). The Canadian is charged with three felonies.
He faces up to 22 years in prison if convicted of all charges, including assault and having a concealed weapon in a vehicle.
However, the rapper from Brampton maintains his innocence. He has pled not guilty to the felony charges leveled against him. It is presently unknown if he will testify. His claimed victim, on the other hand, is scheduled to testify later this week, according to a representative for the LA County District Attorney's office.
Tory Lanez's lawyer didn't expect his opening to be much longer than 20-25 minutes or so when I spoke with him this weekend. The trial is supposed to be 5-7 days. But critical strategic questions remain for Lanez beyond Kylie Jenner. More here: https://t.co/QPVAKIZLoR

In August 2020, the rapper accused the 30-year-old of shooting her in the foot during an Instagram Live. The alleged attack occurred in July outside of a Kylie Jenner-hosted party in the Hollywood Hills.
The artist broke his stance the following month. He eventually released DAYSTAR, a 17-track album wherein he explains his point of view on several songs.
On "Money Over Fallouts," for example, the lyricist wonders how Thee Stallion could have been shot in the foot without being hit in any bones or tendons. Lanez's first charge related to the incident was filed in October 2020.
For the first time on television, the 27-year-old detailed her side of the story in an April interview with CBS Mornings host Gayle King.
Lanez was placed on house arrest in October as a result of a separate alleged assault with fellow artist August Alsina. He was later released.

“I’m doing this mainly for the trial preparation aspect,” Judge David Herriford said, overruling a prosecution objection
Openings expected 12/12
Kylie Jenner and Cory Gamble are one of the probable witnesses to the alleged assault, according to Lanez's lawyer. Both were present at the 2020 party that resulted in the incident.
