Megan Thee Stallion appeared today in Tory Lanez's continuing trial in Los Angeles. Lanez allegedly shot Megan Thee Stallion in the foot after a party in the Hollywood Hills two and a half years ago and is currently charged with assault with a firearm and gun possession.
The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office has additionally added a third felony allegation of recklessly firing a handgun. Megan testified in sworn evidence that after Lanez shot her, he "apologized" and said, “Please don’t say anything. I’ll give y’all a million dollars. I can’t go to jail. I already got caught with a gun before.'”
According to Rolling Stone, Megan admitted to lying to police and telling them she'd trodden on glass. "This was the height of police brutality with George Floyd, and if I said this man just shot me, I didn’t know if they might shoot first and ask questions later.” She explained.
Megan added: “In the Black community, in my community, it’s not really acceptable to be cooperating with police officers.” She said: “as a woman” in the music industry, “people have a hard time believing you anyway.”
Megan's friend Kelsey Harris, who was present with the rapper that night, is slated to testify on Megan's behalf later this week. Meanwhile, Lanez's defense attorney, George Mgdesyan, has proposed the hypothesis that Megan was shot by Harris. Lanez faces up to 22 years in jail if he is convicted on all three charges.
