Drake's attorneys have been doing all they can to oppose efforts to force the 6 God to testify about XXXTENTACION's murder.
Drizzy's lawyers filed a new motion on Sunday (February 12), claiming that there is no evidence that links the rapper to X's 2018 shooting death. The move came only days after a Florida judge ordered the Toronto hitmaker to appear in court for a deposition on February 24.
Drake's lawyers feel the defense counsel are merely seeking to "add further levels of fame and renown" to the case, according to the latest filing.
“It is both unreasonable and oppressive to subpoena an out of state party who has not been mentioned in any reports, any investigation, or referenced to have any involvement in this matter,” Drake’s attorney Bradford M. Cohen wrote in the filing. “To mandate that he appear for deposition for something that he very clearly has no relevant knowledge of is unreasonable.”
Grand jury indicted four Florida men with murdering X during a heist in Florida: Dedrick Williams, Trayvon Newsome, Michael Boatwright, and Robert Allen.
The prosecution never mentioned Drake in X's murder trial, but defense attorney Mauricio Padilla, who represented Williams in the case, included the OVO bossman on a famous witness list in December.
