Tory Lanez has recently submitted an appeal to dismiss his sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion, saying that prosecutors intended to slander him with unnecessary evidence, among other things.
Tory's attorney, renowned criminal defense attorney Jose Baez, claimed that prosecutors filed a shirtless photo of Tory with a weapon on his chest in legal documents acquired by TMZ.
Prosecutors said it was used for identification reasons during the trial, but Baez claims it was designed to show the jury his client's liking for firearms.
There are countless more reasons... most importantly, Baez claims that prosecutors' threat to show Tory's rap lyrics to the jury was a reversible mistake.
According to Baez, the jury heard an 80-minute interview with Kelsey Harris, Megan's ex-friend who was riding along in the car the night of the incident. Although the recording was damaging to Tory's case, Kelsey eventually recanted most of what she stated in that interview.
Baez also claims it was incorrect to admit an Instagram post with a message from one of Megan's producers suggesting cops had linked rounds from Tory's pistol to shards in Megan's foot.
Some other issue... it was incorrect to admit Megan's testimony to officers that Tory said to her shortly after the incident. "Please don't say anything because I'm on probation."
Tory faces up to 22 years in jail for three felony gun offences. He is due to be sentenced next month.
