J-hope, a member of BTS, has shared a behind-the-scenes peek at the making of the 'on the street' music video with J. Cole.
The video begins with the K-pop idol composing a letter to J. Cole in his New York hotel room the morning before their session. When writing the note, J-hope wonders if this is how his supporters feel when they write him letters: "Is this the mind of a fan?"
Later, on the set of 'on the street,' which overlooks the Manhattan Bridge, he meets up with J. Cole. The two exchange hugs as they catch up after meeting at Lollapalooza 2022.
It has been discovered that J. Cole requested to speak with J-hope personally, as said through a translator before the rapper spoke in his own words: "It's a blessing to be here with y'all."

J-hope also discusses his ability to work with J. Cole in the behind-the-scenes film. “When I started listening to music, the first artist I listened to was J. Cole,” he admitted. “Being able to work with J. Cole after 10 years as a fan, I’m so happy. It’s just all new and I still can’t believe it.”
The video also follows the BTS members as he films sequences on New York's streets and in the subway, among other places. “A lot of preparation went into this and I don’t think the process was easy,” he added. “But after everything… I’m so relieved.”
Billboard stated on the same day as the behind-the-scenes film that 'on the street' debuted at number 60 on the Hot 100 for the week of March 18, 2023.
