Soulja Boy is offering a heartfelt apology to J. Cole, a gesture that came about with some guidance from Nicki Minaj.

The "Crank That" artist felt slighted after learning that J. Cole initially had reservations about his music. In a candid Instagram Live session, Soulja Boy didn't mince words, expressing his frustration and using strong language in response to what he perceived as a snub.

Later on, Soulja Boy and Nicki Minaj joined forces on a separate Instagram Live session to address their own alleged rift. Nicki shared her concerns, mentioning an incident after the VMAs, which led her to believe Soulja might be harboring ill feelings towards her. She was referring to her performance during the hip-hop 50th anniversary tribute at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards in September, where she incorporated a portion of "Itty Bitty Piggy," a track that samples Soulja's hit "Donk."

Nicki revealed, "I would’ve loved nothing more than to have you there. This is a prime example of how things can take a turn for the worse real quick. I don’t know if you know but I ended up having to perform three times, and hosting a show, and doing a red carpet, right? It was at the last minute that I even decided what I was gonna perform in that slot."

She went on to explain that if it had been up to her, Soulja would have been part of the performance, alongside Lumidee, who was sampled on Soulja's summer single, "Red Ruby Da Sleeze," a track she also performed that night. Soulja Boy acknowledged the misunderstanding, expressing his appreciation for Nicki's clarification.

When it came to J. Cole, Minaj helped Soulja Boy see that he had misconstrued the rapper’s comments. “[J. Cole] said that he had to keep it real with himself and admit that people like you are what was really keeping the wave going and like really bringing the energy … He basically gave you props … So what the fuck was you on when you misinterpreted it, and now you stand here doing the most again?”

Soulja swiftly conceded. Following the Live session, he issued an apology to J. Cole via his X account, expressing regret for the misunderstanding and acknowledging that he had jumped to conclusions. He extended an olive branch, recognizing that they come from different backgrounds, and that while he stands by his beliefs, he understands that J. Cole was offering support.

In his message, Soulja Boy stated, “My bad dawg. @JColeNC sorry for the confusion. keep doing your shit we from two different worlds. I stand on what I stand on, it’s hard coming from where I did man. I dealt with a lot of hate my whole career so it was just messed to think it would come from you.”
