Eminem Urges to Be Signed by Detroit Lions for Upcoming Playoff Game Against Tampa Bay
In a social media post celebrating the Lions' rare post-season progress, Eminem humorously reports:
Yo, Dan, I’m reporting. I’m going to report. Third quarter. I’m reporting, offensive line, eligible receiver. I’ll be the quarterback, the entire line, (the) offensive line. And the receiver, I will throw it to myself and score a touchdown. In the third quarter. Just give me a uniform. Or at least just a helmet.”
- Eminem
Despite already having a helmet, Eminem insists it's not regulation. "It’s just a helmet," he playfully emphasizes.
Despite not flaunting his football prowess, the legendary rapper stands as an indisputable hip-hop icon. Eminem made history in 2020, securing his 10th consecutive No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart with "Music to Be Murdered By." This remarkable achievement places him among the elite, becoming the sixth act to achieve at least 10 No. 1 LPs in the United States.
On the football front, the Detroit Lions secured a thrilling 24-23 victory over the Los Angeles Rams, marking their first playoff win in 32 years. As the NFC's No. 3 seed, the Lions are set to play two home playoff games for the first time in franchise history, advancing to a second-round matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Eminem's affiliation with the Lions is not new, as he has been spotted at games this season and has previously taken a seat in the commentary booth. Despite his advancing years, Eminem remains enthusiastic, having expressed his willingness to suit up for the team back in 2022 during an episode of HBO's NFL series "Hard Knocks." The rapper, then aged 49, declared, "I said I’m here for whatever position. I’m here. Any of ‘em. All of ’em," while observing a Detroit Lions practice on the sidelines.
