42 Dugg Acknowledges Female Rappers Dropping More Hit Songs Than Male Rappers
In a candid interview with "The Breakfast Club," 42 Dugg opened up about the evolving landscape of Hip Hop.
The Detroit rapper didn't hold back in sharing his thoughts on the current dominance of female artists in the industry.
Dugg remarked:
“Yeah, you see who’s doing it now: the girls. It is shifting over. The girls are putting out the heat. It’s damn near like everything they put out is a hit. Certain girls, you know, are hitting. You start to think, like d**n, are we competing with them?”
He continued, highlighting the impressive success of women in rap. Charlamagne Tha God chimed in, offering his perspective on why female rappers are currently thriving.
“I think it is because they are having more fun. You know the dudes are still being a little tough,”
Dugg agreed with Charlamagne’s assessment, nodding thoughtfully.

Taking a moment to share his insights on how female rappers can sustain their momentum, Dugg put on his A&R hat.
“I was talking to someone the other day and said, ‘What they should do is do as the dudes do.’ For example, Sexyy Red needs to do a tape with GloRilla. I told Yo Gotti they needed to do it while they could. Kind of like what Drake did with Future.”
The hosts of "The Breakfast Club" seemed to resonate with Dugg's viewpoint, agreeing that more collaboration among female artists could only benefit the industry.
They discussed how unity and partnership could elevate the genre, making it more dynamic and inclusive.
Dugg’s comments reflect a broader trend in the music industry, where female rappers are not only gaining recognition but also reshaping the narrative.
