Eminem's "Houdini" wins Best Hip-Hop at 2024 MTV VMAs
At the MTV Video Music Awards 2024, Eminem made history by clinching both Best Hip-Hop and Best Visual Effects awards for his track “Houdini” from his latest album, "The Death Of Slim Shady".
This win not only celebrated his musical genius but also cemented his place in VMA history.

Eminem's “Houdini” outshined a competitive field in the Best Hip-Hop category.
He triumphed over notable nominees such as Drake with Sexyy Red & SZA’s “Rich Baby Daddy,” GloRilla’s “Yeah Glo!,” Gunna’s “fukumean,” Megan Thee Stallion’s “BOA,” and Travis Scott featuring Playboi Carti’s “FE!N.”
The track’s visual effects were equally impressive, earning it the Best Visual Effects accolade.

With these victories, Eminem, now boasts 15 MTV Video Music Awards, setting a new record as the most awarded solo male artist in the show’s history.
This achievement surpasses the previous record held by Peter Gabriel. Additionally, Eminem has become the top rapper in terms of VMA wins, trailing only behind Madonna, who leads with 71 nominations overall.
This year, Eminem was a prominent figure at the VMAs, earning eight nominations. Categories included Best Hip-Hop, Best Visual Effects, Video of the Year, Song of the Summer, and a nod for VMAs Most Iconic Performance.
The latter category recognized his spectacular 2000 medley, which featured a sea of Slim Shady lookalikes and an electrifying performance of “The Real Slim Shady” and “The Way I Am.”
This iconic moment was revisited in his 2024 “Houdini” performance, where he effortlessly recreated the legendary scene. “Houdini” is a nostalgic nod to Eminem’s earlier work, particularly “Without Me.”
In the music video, Eminem makes a dramatic return from the 2000s through a portal, donning a Robin costume and adopting the moniker ‘Rap Boy.’
The blend of past and present in his visual storytelling further contributed to his success at this year’s VMAs. Eminem’s triumph at the MTV VMAs 2024 underscores his enduring impact on the hip-hop genre and his unparalleled influence in the music industry.
