LL Cool J Jokes About Not Smoking with Snoop Dogg

LL Cool J recently made it clear that he has no plans to share a blunt with Snoop Dogg anytime soon.

During an appearance on Real 92.3's The Cruz Show in Los Angeles, the legendary rapper discussed his latest album, "The Force", and the inspiration behind its opening track, “Spirit of Cyrus,” featuring Snoop.

When asked about the song, LL recalled a tense moment from 2013 involving the manhunt for Christopher Dorner.

“I got a call from a high level person in law enforcement and they were telling me, ‘Yo, you need to stay in the house’ and I'm like, ‘Why do I need to stay in the house?’ It was like, ‘Well, there's a manhunt out for this guy named Christopher Dorner and you look exactly like him.’ And then I went on the internet and I'm looking at this guy and it's like I see his face and he looks just like me”

LL acknowledging the online frenzy. After diving into Dorner’s manifesto, LL felt compelled to write the song, seeing it as a reflection of broader societal issues:

“I saw the things that he was talking about in terms of the issues he was having with the department, and the Black versus blue and everything he was going through, It was like a metaphor or an analogy for what was going on in America. And so I just decided to write the song. I was inspired to write the song from a true place and it just tell it how it went.”

Once the musical elements were in place, LL knew Snoop’s signature style was a perfect fit for the track.

LL reached out, and Snoop was quick to join him in the studio, leading to their collaboration.

“So I called Snoop up. He came down to the studio. ‘What's up, Unc?’ I was like, ‘Yo, let's do it.’ He came down, we did it and there it is”
