Wiz Khalifa Speaks Out on J. Cole’s Apology To Kendrick Lamar: 'Nah, hell nah'

Wiz Khalifa Discusses J. Cole’s Legacy Post-Apology to Kendrick Lamar

Wiz Khalifa Discusses J. Cole’s Apology and Drake’s Strategic Moves in Hip-Hop

Wiz Khalifa recently sat down with Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay to share his thoughts on the state of hip-hop.

As one of the genre’s enduring figures, Wiz’s journey mirrors the legendary rise of Snoop Dogg, transitioning from rap royalty to global stoner icon.

Despite this evolution, many forget that Wiz emerged during the pivotal blog rap era, alongside stars like Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and J. Cole. While he doesn’t command the same spotlight as hip-hop’s “Big Three,” Wiz Khalifa’s insights into their careers carry significant weight.

When Sharpe brought up J. Cole’s controversial apology to Kendrick Lamar, Wiz’s reaction was candid.

For context, Cole had previously dismissed one of his own diss tracks aimed at Kendrick, calling it the “wackest” moment of his career. While the question seemed to catch Wiz off guard, his response struck a balance between his rapper instincts and his personal perspective.

"In hip hop, according to the rules, Nah, hell nah. You're not supposed to do that. In real life, you can take back some sh*t that you said."

J. Cole’s Apology: Wiz Khalifa Shares His Thoughts on the Fallout:

Wiz Khalifa went on to applaud J. Cole for showing maturity, calling his actions those of a “bigger person.”

While many in hip-hop originally criticized Cole for backtracking, Wiz saw the move as a reflection of growth.
"It takes a bigger man to actually be like, 'I don't want no problems,' In real life, I f*ck with it... I'll let other people do the hip hop thing."
This sentiment echoes the broader shift in the culture’s perception of Cole’s decision. Charlamagne Tha God, who initially mocked the apology, later reversed his stance, praising Cole’s willingness to prioritize humanity over beef.

Wiz didn’t stop there. The rapper also shared his thoughts on Drake, the final member of the “Big Three.” When asked about Drake’s ongoing battles with UMG and Spotify, Wiz described the move as quintessentially Drake.
"Naw, it sounds like a Drake move to me, He's a musician and a businessman in my eyes, I mean it's a smart thing to do."

Wiz Khalifa’s commentary highlights his unique position in the industry. Though he may no longer dominate charts like Drake or Kendrick, his perspective as a veteran lends a nuanced lens to the ever-evolving hip-hop landscape.
