Joyner Lucas Recalls First Time Meeting Eminem: “I Thought He Had Five Heads”

Joyner Lucas Shares the Story Behind His First Meeting With Eminem

Joyner Lucas is no stranger to sharing raw stories through his music, but a recent memory he shared about meeting Eminem is pure hip-hop gold.

During a wave of nostalgic reflection sparked by Eminem’s recent appearance on Shade 45, where he promoted his STANS documentary and recounted meeting LL Cool J for the first time, Joyner Lucas jumped into the conversation with a memory of his own.

And it’s one that only strengthens the mutual respect between two of rap’s most lyrically gifted MCs.

The memory came to light when a hip-hop page called “southpawer” shared Eminem’s Shade 45 story on Facebook.

Joyner dropped a surprise comment under the post, revealing how he and Eminem first crossed paths years ago.

“It’s crazy how History repeats itself. First time I met Em was at a Royce Da 5’9″ video sh@@t. We crossed paths walking down the hall and he stops me and says ‘yo on that ‘Sriracha’ record, how the hell did you do that fast part like that? Like how did you come up with that? That was crazy.’”

According to Joyner, he was completely stunned.

“I looked at homie like he had five heads. That’s how our relationship started.”

Joyner Lucas Reflects on the First Time He Met Eminem:

Joyner’s verse on Tech N9ne’s track “Sriracha” is widely known for its rapid-fire delivery and technical precision, something only a few rappers in the game can pull off.

The fact that Eminem, often hailed as the rap god, stopped Joyner to compliment his performance shows just how much real recognize real in hip-hop culture.

What started as a chance hallway moment at a video shoot blossomed into a working relationship that led to collaborations like “Lucky You,” which appeared on Eminem’s 2018 album Kamikaze.

It’s a reminder that in hip-hop, talent speaks louder than anything—and even legends like Eminem take notice when the bars are undeniable.

This behind-the-scenes story adds another layer to the creative bond between two of rap’s elite lyricists.

From freestyles to full-blown tracks, Joyner Lucas and Eminem continue to push the lyrical envelope—proving that moments of mutual admiration can lead to greatness.
