Lil Durk Compared to JAY-Z After Teasing New Song

Lil Durk is collecting comparisons to some of the most revered MCs in hip-hop following the viral preview of his new music this week. At a SiriusXM + Pandora Playback event in Atlanta towards the end of October, the Chicago native unveiled an unreleased track to an intimate audience.

On Tuesday (November 6), DJ Akademiks offered a brief snippet of the teaser, igniting excitement among fans. Despite its brevity, listeners couldn’t help but draw parallels between the 31-year-old’s lyrics and beat selection to that of JAY-Z.
Comparisons also surfaced with the likes of Kanye West, Meek Mill, Lil Wayne, and J. Cole, all echoing a sentiment that Durk is truly showcasing his lyrical prowess.

Earlier this year, Lil Durk recounted an encounter with JAY-Z that left him momentarily speechless. In an interview with XXL, the OTF frontman shared a moment from a Michael Rubin party last year, where Hov expressed how Durk serves as a source of inspiration.

“I seen him at Michael Rubin’s party [in 2022] and he like, ‘Man, you motivate me,’” Durk recalled Jay’s words. “Man, fuck me up. I forgot my reply to him, ’cause it was on a walk-by. The reply ain’t make no damn sense ’cause it shocked me. I’m like, ‘What the fuck? Damn, that’s hard.’”
