Joe Budden Discusses His Issues with Big Sean’s Lyrics

Joe Budden Reveals His Main Problem with Big Sean’s Lyrics

Joe Budden recently shed light on his ongoing critique of Big Seans lyrical approach during a candid discussion on his popular podcast.

The former Slaughterhouse member shared his main frustration with the Detroit rapper, focusing on what he perceives as a lack of clarity in Sean’s diss tracks.

On his podcast, Joe Budden openly addressed his concerns about Big Sean’s lyrical content.

Budden began:

“My problem with Big Sean is — respectfully, if you’re watching, Big Sean. I mean no disrespect by this — the vagueness that comes with his disses.”

Joe Budden Explains the Flaws He Sees in Big Sean’s Lyrics:

Budden pointed out that while Big Sean often includes veiled references to other artists, he rarely specifies who targeting. This vagueness leaves fans and critics guessing about the true subject of his disses.

“Big Sean does lyrically diss people, and then we hear it as fans and we get to guessing. And then every guess we [make], ‘You’re wrong.’ But he don’t never tell us who he’s dissing. Not that he has to, but our guesses be sounding accurate to us.”

Budden highlighted a notable instance from the past involving Big Sean and Kendrick Lamar.

During a period when there were rumors of tension between the two rappers, Budden believed that Sean was addressing Kendrick in his lyrics. However, Sean later denied any beef.

“When we thought that you and Kendrick had something going on for a little while, [Sean] told me on the phone I was wrong. I thought on the phone that was cap. Later, it turned out, Joe be right!”

Big Sean’s lyrical ambiguity recently resurfaced in the headlines. In a recent freestyle on On the Radar, Sean appeared to throw subtle jabs at Kanye West.

Rapping over Aaliyah’s classic track “If Your Girl Only Knew,” he seemed to address the critical comments Kanye made about him on the Drink Champs podcast in 2021.

Joe Budden’s critique of Big Sean’s lyrical style highlights a broader discussion within the rap community about clarity and directness in diss tracks.

While Big Sean’s approach keeps listeners guessing, it also raises questions about the effectiveness of such ambiguity.

As the debate continues, fans remain eager to see how Sean will address these concerns in his future music.
