Fat Joe Credits Drake for Keeping Hip-Hop Dominant on the Billboard Hot 100 Top 40

Drake’s hits and upcoming album Iceman continue to push rap and hip-hop to the top of the Billboard charts

Hip-hop fans have watched the Billboard Hot 100 evolve over the years, but one artist has consistently helped keep rap in the spotlight: Drake. Recently, Fat Joe praised Drake for his role in keeping hip-hop inside the Top 40 of the Billboard charts for nearly a decade. His comments highlight just how much impact Drake has had on rap music and the dominance of hip-hop in the mainstream.

This moment is significant because it shows how hip-hop legends like Fat Joe recognize the influence of major rap artists on the Billboard Hot 100. According to Fat Joe, Drake’s hits have consistently propelled hip-hop songs onto the charts, keeping the genre relevant and strong. For fans of rap and the Billboard Hot 100, understanding Drake’s influence helps explain why hip-hop has remained a force in music for so many years.

Let’s dive into what Fat Joe said about Drake, why his comments matter for the Billboard charts, and how Drake’s upcoming album Iceman could continue his run of hip-hop dominance. Whether you follow rap closely or just enjoy the hits on the Billboard Hot 100, this story highlights how Drake continues to shape the sound and success of modern hip-hop.

Fat Joe’s big praise for Drake’s Billboard power

During a recent episode of his Joe and Jada podcast with Jadakiss, Fat Joe spoke openly about Drake’s incredible run on the Billboard Hot 100. While talking about the long stretch where hip-hop stayed visible on the charts, he made it clear who he believes deserves much of the credit. In his words:

“You realize that Drake was probably keeping us in that top 40 for f**kin’ 5, 10 years. Like, every record he made was going number 1… I think he’s battling Michael Jackson for the most number 1s.”

Both Fat Joe and Jadakiss agreed that Drake’s next chapter is likely to be just as strong. They said they expect him to return and take over the charts again once his new album, Iceman, drops. While Drake hasn’t confirmed the release date yet, he has already teased fans with several songs. These include “What Did I Miss?”, “Which One” with Central Cee, and “Dog House” featuring Yeat and Julia Wolf.

Drake previewed all three songs during livestream events, and he recently told Complex that more streams are coming before the full project arrives. “The finale will be our best work,” he said, hinting at something big.

Outside of Iceman, Drake also teamed up with PartyNextDoor this year for the joint album Some Sexy Songs 4 U. The project debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and moved 246,000 album-equivalent units, with their hit single “Nokia” climbing all the way to number two on the Hot 100.
